Ever since the test footage of Joaquin Phoenix’s test footage premiered to the web, I was struggling to put my finger on what this look was reminding me of. The clown makeup is unlike Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, Jared Leto, and the animated series. So, what does this remind you of? It was recently when I saw TMZ’s footage that I finally realized what Phoenix’s Joker is reminding me of.
I’m sure there are many out there of the younger generation who won’t know who Cesar Romero is, but before all the modern-day renditions of the Joker, we had Romero as the Clown Prince on the original Batman series, starring Adam West as Bruce Wayne.

Similar, yes? Please make sure you check out the video on TMZ linked above, as we see that “Arthur Fleck” will be in full Joker gear, terrorizing an underground subway. The Joker’s name has always been a mystery, but it seems for this origin story, we’ll be seeing the infamous villain before his Joker days, although; Arthur may just be one name they’re telling us, to keep everything a secret.
The Joker is set to come out October 4, 2019.
