So Marvel has released a small featurette leading up to the much-anticipated release of Ant-Man and the Wasp where Head of Marvel, Kevin Feige along with stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly talk about the characters origins and history in the comics as well as her upcoming debut in the MCU and in the future. So let’s go through it and see what they had to say about one of the founding members of the Avengers: The Wasp.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”107″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”108″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]The featurette starts off with Feige himself talking about the characters comic book origins being one of the founding members of the Avengers and staring on the first ever cover of the comic. Even before Cap himself who is the so-called “First Avenger”, Janet-Van Dyne was battling Loki in Avengers #1. Kevin says himself “Finally all of those characters from that cover are on the big screen” and it’s about damn time. My personal biggest gripe with the MCU is that it has taken this long to finally get The Wasp kicking ass on the big screen but hey better late than never right?[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”109″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”110″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]The head of Marvel then moves onto the MCU giving us a small recap of the first Ant-Man movie where we saw the original Wasp Janet-Van Dyne in a flashback and then we got to see Hope receive her brand new suit at the end of the movie.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”111″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]He then went onto say “Now in Ant-Man and The Wasp, we get to see her in all her glory”. I am honestly so excited for this movie and the Wasp is playing a huge part in all my hype. Don’t get me wrong I love Paul Rudd as Ant-Man and I’m very excited to see his return after Civil War but finally getting to see the wasp be a hero on the big screen is extremely exciting. Plus getting to see the two of them interact as heroes is sure to be very fun because these 2 are shaping up to be the only couple in the MCU that are A) both heroes but B) Equals.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Evangeline Lilly, AKA The Wasp herself then talks a little more about the character and how Hope-Van Dyne is very excited herself to follow in the footsteps of her parents and finally wear the suit after all this time. Evangeline perfect captures the character when she says “She lives to be The Wasp” because she really does maybe more than any other character we’ve seen in the MCU thus far. I think I speak for all of us when I say we’re just as excited as she is to finally see The Wasp in action.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”112″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_single_image image=”114″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]Scott Lang himself tells us “She’s the toughest one in the movie” and from her action in the trailers as well as the previous movie we can tell he ain’t joking. From the trailers there seems to be a really nice balance between the two of them, again they feel more like equals then any other couple in the MCU to me and their movie isn’t even out yet! That’s got to say something.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”115″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]We get a couple of shots we’ve already seen, as well as a couple new ones with Scott telling Hope and her father he went into the Quantum Realm and he thinks he saw Janet. Now at the end of the first movie, he said he didn’t remember anything so it’s obvious he makes at least one other trip into the Realm and sees the original Wasp on his travels. Then we get shots of the pod going into the Quantum Realm where they’re going on a mission to bring back Hope’s mother.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”116″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]The featurette ends with a couple shots of “Ghost” the movies newest villain with the stars talking about when this technology is stolen its complete chaos. I’m really holding out hope for Ghost to be a kickass Villain rather than just a bad guy for our heroes to fight for the sake of having a bad guy. Let’s not have a repeat of Enfys Nest from Solo; a great looking villain who turns out to be a huge waste of potential.
Kevin Feige then teases us right at the end telling us these characters are going to be very important moving forward, especially in Avengers 4. Now we all knew this already, we’ve all seen the set photos and there are hundreds of theories out there already but it’s still hard to not get excited about Avengers 4 and these characters in the future when we hear stuff like this.
So that pretty much wraps up the featurette. I was already super hyped for this movie before this and this was just a nice little boost to get me even more hyped.
