[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”19416″ img_size=”768×523″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John film Grease from 1978 is officially getting a prequel. When this musical hit the big screen, it became an iconic movie for people of all ages and generations to watch and enjoy. There’s been a sequel, on Broadway renditions, and live-on-TV specials; so it should seem almost predictable that another installment in the franchise would come out now. Especially since we are, as I always say; in an era of remakes, reboots, long-awaited sequels, and prequels.
The prequel will be called Summer Loving and John August has been brought in to pen the script. According to THR, Summer Loving will focus on Sandy and Danny’s meeting while on vacation during the summer, where Sandy believed Danny to be the sweet, caring boy of her dreams and not a rough and tough high school kid who was part of a leather jacket gang. From the small details we’re getting, it’ll be a true romance and I wonder if we are going to be exploring Danny back at school or just during his and Sandy’s time and their ultimate departure from one another.
What do you think about a Grease prequel?
