The digital age has transformed how music is shared and consumed. Statistics indicate that 87% of musicians use the Internet to promote, advertise, and release music. The only issue is getting more people to listen to their songs. Whether you’re an aspiring artist seeking to gain traction or an established musician looking to expand your reach, the following tips can help you get more online views for your music.

    1. Leverage social media

This point sounds like a no-brainer in this current social media era, but it’s worth mentioning. That’s because you’ll be surprised by how many artists or musicians still fail to utilize social media platforms to propel their music. That goes beyond simply creating a social media page and uploading your music. It involves finding the right audience on social media platforms, engaging them with your content, and luring them to follow your page.

Youtube, Instagram, and TikTok are the most effective social media platforms for attracting more listeners.

    2. Collaborate and cross-promote with other artists

Several artists have seen their careers shoot up after collaborating with other musicians. Look for artists whose style aligns with yours and propose collaborations on songs, music videos, or live performances. This way, you can pool your fan base and reach a wider audience. The more audience you get, the more people will listen to your songs. Many artists have tried collaborating with others outside their genre and pulled it off, but it’s still tricky. So it’s best to stick with your genre. You can also consider featuring other artists’ music on your social media platforms as a way of cross-promoting. But encourage them to do the same for you. Otherwise, you’ll only be promoting their brand, not yours.

    3. Create supporting content

As mentioned earlier, uploading your music to various online platforms is not enough to do the trick. Consider creative ways to make your brand more attractive and build curiosity about your music. And one effective way to do this is to create supporting content besides your music. For example, you can document the processes involved in writing and recording your music and publish them on your platforms with links to the songs.

You can also publish new music release dates to help build a vibe around them. It also helps to create different visual content for each piece of music. The popular choice for most artists is to create music videos to support the audio version. But you can also create simple but attractive lyric videos using a lyric video maker. Doing this will help people learn, understand, and relate to your song better.

    4. Engage with online communities and music blogs

There are so many online communities dedicated to music. And you can engage with as many as you can find. But focus on the ones with the audience you want. For example, you’ll find Facebook groups and subreddits focused on music promotion in your genre. You’ll also find many online discussions that can help you attract attention to your music and gain loyal followers. And don’t forget about the music blogs. There are so many of them these days with loyal readers. Engage with their readers by responding to comments on reviews or articles featuring your music.
