Synopsis: 80 FOR BRADY is inspired by the true story of four best friends living life to the fullest when they take a wild trip to the 2017 Super Bowl LI to see their hero Tom Brady play.

We can all only hope that our friendships make it to an elderly age. It’s hard enough to overcome distance, schedules, and differences, but time is one hell of a juggernaut. To maintain long and fruitful relationships, platonic or otherwise, it takes honesty, love, loyalty, trust, and reliability. Also, every now and then, you’ll have to help someone move. Moreover, make sure your “yes’s” outnumber your “no’s”, show up whenever possible, and make sure they don’t eat too many gummies. However, a wacky drug-fueled adventure is a lifetime bonding experience when all else fails.

    “Let’s go!”

What do you get when four legends cross paths with the GOAT? You get a Super Bowl-sized chuckle-fest with a heart of gold. Directed by Kyle Marvin and Produced by Tom Brady, 80 For Brady is a game-winning laugh-out-loud comedy. With its unexpected edginess making it Hangover-adjacent, an all-star cast, and sports nostalgia, this film is nothing short of a fantastic theater experience. Inspired by the true story of four best friends in their 4th quarter of life, this is a journey of resiliency, determination, unwavering friendship, and how football unites us. It’s fun from beginning to end with nonstop laughter, and you may even shed a tear or two.

“I just really need this trip.”

This fast-paced comedy exceeds all expectations. Whatever you’ve seen or heard previously, does not do it justice. Furthermore, this is the very rare occasion where the best parts of the movie are not in the multiple trailers that you may have seen. While the story isn’t extremely complex and the minute details aren’t terribly important, it’s sure to keep a smile on your face as it also delivers great messages. Taking place in 2017 as the New England Patriots are set to take on the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI, as diehard fans who are in the stage of life where nursing homes are beginning to call their names, this may be their last chance to finally go to the big game. It’s not only important to them as fans, but unbeknownst to the rest, it could be the last trip one of them ever takes. Rife with all the laughs and hijinks of some of your favorite road-trip comedies, this movie transcends generations and can be enjoyed by teenagers and grandparents alike. There’s football, fangirling, hookups, high moments, and plenty of motivation. Take your loved ones and I promise you won’t be disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed 80 For Brady and will probably see it again. Its rewatchability is high.

Rita Moreno plays Maura, Sally Field plays Betty, Lily Tomlin plays Lou, and Jane Fonda plays Trish in 80 For Brady from Paramount Pictures.

    Pacing & Pop

This chuckle-fest is equipped with quick wit as well as a fast pace. With a healthy balance of story and laughs, the hijinks are plentiful and the dull moments are few and far between. What popped for me was the humor. The film is tremendously more hilarious than expected, it’s like a grey-tinted Girls Trip.

Lily Tomlin plays Lou with Producer Tom Brady in 80 For Brady from Paramount Pictures.

    Characters & Chemistry

Starring: Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, Sally Field, Tom Brady, Billy Porter, Rob Corddry, Alex Moffat, Guy Fieri, Harry Hamlin, Bob Balaban, Glynn Turman, Sara Gilbert, Jimmy O. Yang, Ron Funches, Matt Lauria

This cast is full of legends; and like legends, they are exceptional in their roles. The chemistry is endearing and effortless, the comedic timing is impeccable, and there is a sense of comfort watching them on this adventure. With four very distinct personalities, there is someone to relate to, if not all of them. This foursome brings nothing but joy, laughs, and moments that make you want to cry.

80 For Brady releases in theaters on February 3, 2023. Remain safe and enjoy.
