As expected today at the New York Comic-Con, the fifth and final season of Fox’s Gotham was brought into focus and promises to bring with it a multitude of villains (Yes, that includes Bane!), a broken back for our man Alfred, and the debut of the Caped Crusader….oh and the Season 5 Trailer. Here is a tweet with video about the Gotham panel:

So now that the trailer has been released, what do we know? This new season is set about a decade later than the previous season, thus the appearance of the Dark Knight. In addition to Batman swinging into Gotham by the end of the series, it appears that Gotham has opened it’s doors to a plethora of well known bad guys who will be ready to take on the Dark Knight in season 5. This list includes the return of Zsasz, Mad Hatter, Scarecrow, and Hugo Strange. For our animal loving friends, Penguin will have a dog! If that is not enough villainy for you, some new evil doers will also make their appearance into Gotham to add to the fun, including Magpie and the aforementioned Bane who will be played by Shane West, which actually has been predicted for some time by fans but it was confirmed today. It was also reported that a new twist will be presented on the Bane origin story. In addition, it was learned that Bane will break Alfred’s back this season, which is a deviation from the comic book version where he breaks Batman’s back. Bane apparently has to break SOMEONE’S back, there is no getting around it.
How do you feel about the cavalcade of Villains Fox has planned for Season 5? How about Alfred suffering what should have been Batman’s fate? Share your feelings with us at GVNation.
