A Reboot of The Office Has Been Shopped Around for Years

Just like other sitcoms, The Office is wildly popular, even though the series has been off-air for a while now. The Office is something almost all office workers can relate to and it has been engrained in our pop culture for a while now. It shouldn’t be a surprise, then; that former NBC executive Bob Greenblatt had wanted to reboot the series. According to a THR report, Greenblatt discussed having talked about it with Greg Daniels four years ago; Greenblatt was the chairman of NBC Entertainment then. He says that Daniels has an idea for a reboot.

Greenblatt expressed:

“But, look, I was talking to Greg Daniels four years ago about rebooting The Office, way before this. He wants to do it and actually has an idea for it.”

Daniels had also expressed the want to reboot earlier this year, but was mindful about not wanting to disappoint fans:

“It was such a perfect thing that I would hesitate to open it up. We got the chance to end it the way we wanted to end it. It wasn’t like we were interrupted in the middle of a run or something. So in a sense, it’s completely an artistic whole. But, that said, I don’t know, the cast every now and then talks about getting back together in some form, but I don’t see it being a reboot like the way Will & Grace was rebooted.”

He continued:

“My biggest concern would be disappointing the fans. People will watch the entire series and then roll right into watching it again, and to me that means we ended it properly.”

Would you want The Office to be rebooted or just stay as is?
