A Round-up Of The Best Speaker Systems For Your TV

When searching around for a new TV, we often overlook the many other factors that constitute a great experience and instead focus primarily on size and picture quality. If you’ve upgraded your TV lately, these features were likely at the top of your priority list, and so no doubt you picked up a sleek new model bristling with the latest judder reduction, colour matching, and LED motion technologies. If you want to take your TV set up seriously, though, it would be worth bumping your TV’s speaker system up to the next level, too.

For a truly immersive experience, visual stimulation is only half the job – after all, without adequate sound, we’re cast back to the primal era of cinema and by modern standards, this won’t do. ou could be forgiven for thinking that elaborate speaker systems should be a luxury reserved for the larger screens, but even moderate sizes can benefit enormously – especially when you invest in high end speakers that deliver premium sound quality. The best speaker systems for a 32-inch smart TV can, arguably, result in a better experience than a 50-inch TV with average speakers.

You wouldn’t boast of a Ferrari were it sporting the engine of a quadbike, so upgrade your speaker set up today. Not sure where to begin? Let us break it down for you.

    Sound bar

A soundbar is a single speaker unit that usually resides beneath the TV, combining the power and projection of two flanking speakers into one ultra-wide unit. Soundbars have become a popular speaker upgrade solution by virtue of their sleek and stylish design, bypassing complicated wiring systems and the need for additional shelving units.

In the interests of continuity, you may want to match your soundbar with the manufacturer of your TV. For example, Samsung offers the HWT 2.0 All in One Sound Bar for congruity and compatibility with its models. LG similarly produces the SP2, finished in a smart gunmetal fabric to slip harmoniously into your living room set up. Other manufacturers producing soundbars include Sony, Panasonic, and JVC.

Alternatively, ascending the price range, the Sonos Beam is a smart TV compatible soundbar supporting TV remote synchronisation, Wi-Fi connectivity, and Dolby Atmos: a technology that maps sounds in three dimensions to take your experience to the next level.

    Flanking speakers

Alternatively, a cheaper solution would be to mount two front-facing speakers that flank your TV. If you don’t have shelving units to accommodate the speakers but wish to pursue this option, you could either have them wall-mounted or positioned on external stands. For the affordable price of just under £27, Logitech’s Z150 speakers are TV compatible with six-watt peak power and sturdy frame for safety when positioned.

Alternatively, the R1000T4 active bookshelf speaker set from Edifier is another smart example of flanking TV speakers, built with 100% medium-density fibreboard to resist resonance and two wood accents to match the surrounding room. These speakers feature 4-inch bass drivers and three-quarter inch silk-diaphragm tweeter drivers.

    Combination set

If you really want to go all the way with your TV speaker upgrade, you may want to consider a comprehensive surround sound set. The HT-S40R Home Cinema system manufactured by Sony brings powerful 600-watt Dolby Digital surround sound to your home. By combining the powers of a soundbar, subwoofer speaker, and rear-mounted speakers, the set can fill an entire room with sound for a transportive movie experience.

The SAMSUNG HW-Q950T takes this concept to the next level with its Dolby Atmos sound bar and speaker set – the perfect match in quality for a QLED TV. The sound bar features nine channels, a subwoofer channel and four up-firing channels, with vertical elements for 3D sound.
