‘Agents of Shield‘ Showrunners Reveal Where Fitz Was Most of Season 7

Just ask my lovely wife Kathy…she had one question most of Season 7 for Agents of Shield…Where was Fitz? We even did a faux PSA asking where he was. This was serious business for fans of the show. Even though most fans assumed it came down to a scheduling conflict. Now we know that was indeed the case. Recently, showrunners Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed Whedon and Jeffrey Bell confirmed that during post show interviews.

It had more to do with the schedule,” Whedon confirmed. “Logistics rather than our intention of storytelling. Yes. Yes. There were conflicts, there were other jobs,” Tancharoen added.

With that in mind, they ask fans take that into consideration when it comes to rewatching the final season.

So, we would ask, just re-watch the season with that in mind. We use of every moment of Fitz that we were given,” Jeffrey Bell explained. “Yes. That’s a good way to put it. But yeah, there are some angry, angry people about his absence,” Tancharoen said.

In the end, they were hoping that Wednesday’s final would console those who had missed Fitz so desperately. In truth, they would not have chosen that way if they could. They knew that the separation of FitzSimmons had become a constant companion.

And the other thing I’ll say about it, one of the things that was difficult for us is we have separated [FitzSimmons] a lot. They are what we would call in our business, a ‘forever love’, and we knew that early on, and so the only thing you can do with a ‘forever love’ is make it hard for them to be together. So, we had already done that.
Now that’s all said and done, I believe all things are forgiven. FitzSimmons had their happily ever after and the team is moving on. The best part is, they haven’t closed any doors about future appearances. I can dream can’t I? Did you catch the series final of Marvel’s Agents of Shield? What did you think of the final?
