Even though most fans assumed it came down to a scheduling conflict. Now we know that was indeed the case. Recently, showrunners Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed Whedon and Jeffrey Bell confirmed that during post show interviews.

With that in mind, they ask fans take that into consideration when it comes to rewatching the final season.

In the end, they were hoping that Wednesday’s final would console those who had missed Fitz so desperately. In truth, they would not have chosen that way if they could. They knew that the separation of FitzSimmons had become a constant companion.

They are what we would call in our business, a ‘forever love’, and we knew that early on, and so the only thing you can do with a ‘forever love’ is make it hard for them to be together.
