Amazon Studios’ six-part adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Anansi Boys has found its Mr. Nancy. According to Variety, Delroy Lindo will portray Anansi/Mr.Nancy. Viewers may recognize Lindo from his roles in The Good Fight and Da 5 Bloods.
It is unknown how big Lindo’s role will be as the novel begins with the death of Mr. Nancy, with the character appearing quite sporadically throughout the rest of the novel. Mr. Nancy’s children, Fat Charlie and Spider, are the main focus of the novel. At this time, there is no further information on casting.
Gaiman expressed excitement about Lindo’s casting, saying:
“Delroy Lindo is a giant of the stage and the screen, and we are so lucky to have him. I cannot wait to see his gravitas and charm being deployed for the benefit of Anansi Boys, as he plays an unreliable father with hidden depths.”
Anansi Boys begins production later this year in Scotland. The series hails from Amazon Studios, The Blank Corporation, Endor Productions, and RED Production Company. Gaiman and Douglas Douglas Mackinnon serve as showrunners, also executive producing alongside Sir Lenny Henry, Hanelle M. Culpepper, Hilary Bevan Jones, and Richard Fee. Gaiman and Henry will write the series, alongside Arvind Ethan David, Kara Smith, and Racheal Ofori.
