In case you weren’t aware, American Gods has officially dropped a second trailer for their upcoming season in March. While we’ve gotten one trailer, clips, and a marathon of season one, the gods have blessed us with another look at what we can expect for the second season. While there were some recycled clips from the first trailer, there was a lot of new footage as well as a message.
Season two is going to not only going to dive into the war between the old gods and the new gods, but will also explore the temperature of America, both in the past and the present. What we’re going to see is the real ideology of what drives Americans and explore the core values to so many different people who make up this country. Everyone giving their time and attention to different things and the puppet masters who are behind humans’ needs and wants, pulling the strings we didn’t even know existed.
Take a look at the trailer below, posted by American Gods creator Neil Gaiman:
A STORM IS COMING. Don’t miss the premiere of #AmericanGods March 10 on STARZ in the US and March 11 on Amazon Prime Video outside the US. AND LOOK… A first glimpse of the House on the Rock!@GodsOnAmazon

One of the things that I first noticed about the trailer, other than what I mentioned before; is that we are going to see Shadow play a much more active role in this season. Whereas in season one Shadow seemed more like a spectator, he is being trained. Groomed. Mr. Wednesday aka Odin is making Shadow a warrior for their side and we see that resonating with Shadow. Where this will take him and how it will affect his relationships remain to be seen. While we see what looks like maybe a flashback or an illusion of Shadow and his deceased wife Laura in period clothing, it’s obvious we’re still going to see Mad Sweeney and Laura Moon working together. For however long, I’m not sure, as I have the feeling that Laura lying in that field is her sacrificing herself and accepting her own death.
We’re also getting a glimpse of Sweeney’s past, where he himself was a warrior. From Pablo Schreiber’s Instagram some time back, he let in that Sweeney’s episode is episode 7 so I’m sure we’ll see some great footage from Sweeney’s past life before he was a Leprechaun.
The new trailer also gave us a look at the new gods. Mr. World, Technical Boy, and newcomers New Media and Mr. Town all have a part to play. The new season is going to be wild.
American Gods returns March 10th.
