Doug (Jack Black) and Griff (Paul Rudd) have been best friends since they were kids, and have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie: the cinematic “classic” Anaconda. When a midlife crisis pushes them to finally go for it, they head deep into the Amazon to start filming. But things get real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly situation. The movie they’re dying to make? It might just get them killed.

Video Quality
Anaconda (2025) comes to 4K UHD Blu-Ray in its original 2.39:1 with a glorious transfer that is practically flawless. This particular release does not have a Blu-Ray copy included, so the level of improvement between the formats is impossible to judge. There is a stellar amount of depth and clarity to the picture with impeccable details coming through clearly. There is a world of texture within the Amazon featured, along with loads of special effects which you can really take in with this transfer. There are numerous landscapes presented here with each location providing something exciting to explore.
The film deploys a vibrant color palette with bold color saturation showing off the possibilities of the format. Skin tones all look very natural and provide a nice amount of facial detail in close-ups, especially the grime that builds up as the crew gets into more disgusting situations. Black levels hold up resolutely with nothing in the way of black crush or noise. This release also sidesteps any potential noise, banding, or other digital shortcomings. You could not ask for better from Sony with this presentation.
Audio Quality
This 4K UHD Blu-Ray release boasts a Dolby Atmos track in addition to a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track. The Dolby Atmos experience is exclusive to the 4K UHD format, so those with a mighty sound system might want to choose that option for the sonic upgrade alone. This disc brings plenty of thrilling moments to life as the story develops with a depth and clarity of sound that is just exquisite. As the action ramps up, the sounds of mounting chaos rocket through your side and rear speakers. Each sound is precisely placed with perfect spatial awareness.
The track engages all of the active channels with panning effects and sounds of the action that really make you feel like you are in the thick of the shoot. The addition of height channels expands the setting in really rewarding ways, such as all of the wildlife in the rainforest. The utilization of environmental effects comes through in a natural way. There is an exceptional amount of activity in the low-end which will keep your house shaking with every development. Dialogue comes through clearly without getting overshadowed by the score or any sound effects. Sony delivered on all fronts, so those with a good surround sound setup should have a blast with this one. Optional English, English SDH, Chinese, French, Spanish, and more subtitles are provided.

Final Thoughts
Anaconda (2025) largely delivers on its ambitions as a meta-comedy that touches upon the nostalgia trap that society has fallen into in recent decades. Jack Black and Paul Rudd are always a charismatic pair, even if the script itself does not always capitalize on the full potential of this collaboration. The remainder of the ensemble is similarly amiable with inconsistent utilization of their individual talents. The journey delivers quite a bit of fun throughout, yet the experience diminishes as it coalesces into a finale that feels boxed in by big studio conventions. If you like the talent involved, you should have a good time, but there is room for improvement. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has released a 4K UHD Blu-Ray featuring an excellent A/V presentation and a fine selection of special features. Recommended
Anaconda (2025) is currently available to purchase on 4K UHD Blu-Ray SteelBook, Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital.
