At this point, we all know that Andrew Lincoln is departing the show. Due to wanting to be closer to his family in England, he has made the decision to leave the show. When an actor leaves The Walking Dead, it’s typically not in a nice fashion. Either you are turned into a walker or killed off in a pretty horrific way i.e. Negan killing off Glenn and Abraham in the season seven premiere.
Andrew Lincoln has expressed that despite the limited options, he really doesn’t want to see Rick killed off. Bringing up Lennie James, who plays Morgan; Lincoln pointed out that Lennie left The Walking Dead to now be in Fear the Walking Dead. While this may have worked by James, Lincoln isn’t going to be in FTWD. He’s the main character who still has a whole community looking towards him for answers, as well as Michonne and Judith. I don’t really see a way for Lincoln to exit the show by just going off into the sunset, but according to Lincoln, they have a really great ending in store.
“Obviously I’m not going to tell you which way [Rick leaves] I mean, I’d prefer the Lennie James of it all. But I think what we have in store this season is truly remarkable, and I’m very proud of the work that we’ve done.”
