Andrew Scott Will Play Mr. Ripley in New Showtime Series

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”22875″ img_size=”600×325″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Andrew Scott is most recently known as the “Hot Priest” from the Emmy winning ‘Fleabag’ series from Phoebe Waller-Bridge. With already an impressive career under his belt, Scott’s next adventure will be as Tom Ripley for a Showtime series.

‘Ripley’ is a straight to series order of eight episodes based on Patricia Highsmith’s novels. Showtime’s president of entertainment Gary Levine commented:

“We are so thrilled to have the supremely talented filmmaker, Steve Zaillian, adapt the singular saga of Tom Ripley from Patricia Highsmith’s novels as an ongoing series for Showtime. With Andrew Scott, whose charisma knows no bounds, inhabiting the iconic lead role, we feel confident that this will be a special one.”

Not only was Scott on Fleabag, but recently the latest season of Netflix’s Black Mirror, but also has quite a following from his days as Jim Moriarty on BBC’s Sherlock. Ripley will follow the main character from 1960s New York to Italy after he is hired by a wealthy gentleman to find his son and take him back home to America.

Zaillian has been brought in to write and direct the first season.
