First it was Deathstroke and then it was Hush or Court of Owls. When news began to spread that Reeves wanted an ensemble villain film there were reports Penguin, Two-Face, Riddler and maybe even Bane might show up.
We know that Penguin, Riddler and Catwoman are most likely in the film but we have also had rumors that Firefly and Two-Face would be involved as well. None of these characters are confirmed at this time and right now the only person cast is Robert Pattinson. So who could be up for the role of the villains? A rumor earlier today said Chloe Grace Moretz and Jodie Comer are being eyed for Catwoman. Josh Gad took to Twitter several times to tease that he would love to play the Penguin but just last week he finally admitted he has had no talks about playing the role whatsoever.
A new report from Batman on Film indicates that long time fan-cast favorite, Andy Serkis, is actually being eyed for a role in Matt Reeves film. Matt and Andy are no strangers when it comes to working together as they have collaborated a few times on the Planet of the Apes films. Batman on Film does not say who Serkis might be playing but they, like us, think Serkis would be perfect as Penguin.
Batman on Film says they have heard Serkis is being eyed for a role by more than one source and BoF usually doesn’t report stuff unless they trust what they are being told. Apparently the role won’t be motion capture at all which is right in Serkis’s wheelhouse.
I was also told that it was NOT going to be for a motion capture role, so I’m ruling out Clayface, Killer Croc, Man-Bat, or an Incredible Hulk-like version of Bane says Batman on Film
Whomever Serkis does end up playing let’s just all admit that casting him would be a huge step in the right direction for this film.
