Annabelle Wallis Says Tom Cruise Let Her Run Alongside Him In ‘THE MUMMY’

We all know Tom Cruise, for ages now he is one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. My dad is probably one of his biggest fans He will watch any movie the man makes. We’ve heard for years that many roles require him to pull off some amazing action stunts. Now former co-star Annabelle Wallis from The Mummy is speaking out on how Tom Cruise didn’t want anyone including co-stars running alongside him on screen. In addition, she spoke about how she even timed her workouts during the horror reboot for Cruise to see her physical abilities. Willis wanted to prove she had what it takes to keep up with the big boys.

“I got to run on-screen with him, but he told me no at first. He said, ‘Nobody runs on-screen [with me],’ and I said, ‘But I’m a really good runner,’” Wallis revealed to The Hollywood Reporter.

“So, I would time my treadmill so that he’d walk in and see me run. And then he added all these running scenes. So, that was it. It was, like, better than an Oscar. I was so happy! I was so happy that I got to run on-screen with Tom Cruise.”

It’s unknown at this time if the was contractually prevented from running on-screen with Cruise or if it was just a joke that no could run with him while filming the horror film. What we do know is that eventually, she did share that screen with him in some awesome action scenes.

Wallis has in her career shared the screen with big-screen actors. Most questions that she gets is specifically about working with Tom Cruise, something she doesn’t everything will go away. Willis also noted she grasps why everyone is so interested in him.

“I don’t think they ever will,” the actress shared of when people will stop asking her about the actor. “He’s Tom Cruise. He’s his own thing. He’s such a movie star, and he does his own bloody stunts! He means business, and he loves this business. He’s a cinephile. I think people are in awe of that kind of passion and love for cinema and a desire to excel, to keep growing, and keep pushing boundaries. He’s on a different level, and, you know, I ticked a box.”

The Mummy was supposed to start the ‘Dark Universe’ of cinematic remakes which would focus on the Universal Monsters, the films poor box office, and lack of interest has prevented more movies from being filmed. Hopes are with the success of this year’s The Invisible Man that reports of Dracula and The Wolf Man going forward in the filming process we will get to see more of the monsters on the big screen.

What do you think? Is Cruise the type who doesn’t want to share that screen? Do you want to see more Monsters from the Dark Universe?
