Video Quality
Interview with the Vampire: The Complete Second Season arrives on Blu-Ray with a fetching AVC encoded 1080p transfer in its original aspect ratio. As with the previous season, the depth of detail this presentation is able to coax out is a visual delight, as all of the subtle facets in the production design are clearly on display. The skin tones appear to be accurate to their intended state across the ensemble.
There are some surprising instances of enchanting colors radiating off the screen, especially in the costumes and period production design. The color palette veers a touch cool with an assortment of visually darker moments throughout the season, but some brighter sequences make an impression. Black levels are nice and deep with a respectable amount of detail in shadows. The highlights do not succumb to any blooming in this presentation. There are no serious instances of aliasing or compression artifacts on display here. The Blu-Ray represents the series perfectly as it embraces the wonder of its craftsmanship
Audio Quality
This Blu-Ray comes with a nuanced DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track that feels authentic and lived-in. The series music from Daniel Hart consistently sets the tone for the narrative, and it creates a richly enveloping sound that draws you further into the story. Dialogue comes through crisp and clear without being trounced by the score or any sound effects. More bustling moments are given the appropriate presence in the mix, but this is not a particularly kinetic narrative. Ambient sounds are precisely deployed in the rear channels. The audio presentation here is a winner on all fronts. Optional English SDH, Spanish, and French subtitles are provided.

Final Thoughts
Interview with the Vampire continues to be a thrilling adaptation of the classic source material in its sophomore outing despite some major shakeups. The narrative continues to expand and unlock more nuances within the lore, most notably the diminished presence of a fan-favorite character and the recontextualization of another. This creative team knows how to thread the needle of tricky developments that might otherwise alienate fans. Some changes in casting are surprising at first, but you quickly realize that the group dynamic is as strong as ever. There is not so much the thrill of discovery this time out, but this season is a worthy continuation that fans should love. RLJE Entertainment has released a Blu-Ray featuring a strong A/V presentation and some engaging supplemental features. Recommended
