Asher was cast as young Billy Batson who becomes the superhero SHAZAM! whenever he speaks the name. Asher recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about getting the role and how he prepared for it. The young actor revealed he said the word Shazam over and over again which eventually drove his parents mad.
“I mean when I got the role I went to my parents and then I went to the comic book store to just, you know, do my research on the character but that line, that line I would just practice over and over, I can’t even tell you. My mom would tell me ‘stop saying that’, both of my parents.”
David Sandberg revealed that Billy will have his own agenda in the film outside of becoming a superhero and learning his powers and Zachary Levi had this to say about the film:
“You’ll see that finished product in the film, guys, You’ll see the months of hard work.”
