According to Variety, filming for the movie will start in 2019.
For those who have never seen the play or the 1961 movie starring Natalie Wood, West Side Story is essentially a “modern day” retelling of Romeo and Juliet. Two rival gangs, the Jets and the Sharks, are enemies of one another and soon, tensions rise when a man from one side, Tony, falls in love with a woman from the other side, Maria.
