Two men stand in a hallway in front of a closed door; one holds a large ski boot while the other stands with hands clasped, wearing dark glasses and a beanie.

The Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre in London was once again buzzing this evening as it hosted the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2026. Under the guidance of first-time host Alan Cumming, One Battle After Another shone the brightest as Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest work triumphed across categories including ‘Best Film’, ‘Supporting Actor’ (Sean Penn), and ‘Director’, securing six wins from fourteen nominations. Following suit closely were Sinners and Frankenstein, with three awards each. Sinners won in the categories ‘Original Screenplay’, ‘Supporting Actress’ (Wunmi Mosaku) and ‘Original Score’. At the same time, Guillermo del Toro’s movie prevailed in the ‘Costume Design’, ‘Make Up & Hair’ and ‘Production Design’ categories.

Actress Jessie Buckley keeps on dominating in the ‘Leading Actress’ category as she also won the BAFTA award for her role in Chloé Zhao’s “Devastating, Exalted Work Exploring Grief Through Art”, bringing the total amount of BAFTA wins for Hamnet to two, alongside ‘Outstanding British Film’. The ‘Leading Actor’ category probably had the most unexpected (but immensely deserving) win as I Swear’s Robert Aramayo claimed victory against Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, Michael B. Jordan and Jesse Plemons, after also winning the EE Rising Star award earlier on during the ceremony. Norway celebrated its first-ever BAFTA award as director Joachim Trier and his Sentimental Value claimed a win in the ‘Film Not in the English Language’ category.

The night also belonged to Clare Binns as she was honoured with the award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema, while Dame Donna Langley received this year’s Fellowship.
