Copy trading works by watching one wallet address and placing your own order whenever it buys, sized by your settings. On Banana Gun you paste the address into /copytrade, set the size and the exits, and switch the copy trade to Active. Your fill always lands after the leader’s.

Copy trading follows an address on the chain. Whatever that wallet buys, your settings decide whether you buy too, and how much.

Banana Gun’s blog explains how wallet mirroring works across chains. This walkthrough stays on Solana, with GMGN numbers pulled on 27 Oct 2026.

What does copy trading do inside a Telegram trading bot?

A copy trade has four moving parts. The leader is a wallet address, and the watcher is the bot that sees its trades on-chain.

Your settings are the rules, and your own wallet pays for every order.

Banana Gun is a Telegram trading bot, so the setup happens in chat. Open “Copy Trading” in the start menu or send /copytrade, tap “New Copy Trade”, paste the address, add a description such as “Fomo frank”, select your wallets and toggle “Inactive” to “Active”.

If the leader starts trading from a new wallet, your copy trade is still watching the old address.

How do you find the wallet address?

Fomo shows a trader’s followers, trade count and PnL, but the app does not show the wallet address. Fomo Wallet Finder (fomowalletfinder.com, third-party, checked 21 Oct 2026) takes a fomo.family profile link or @handle and returns the verified Solana address.

The lookup is free, with new lookups limited to 2 a day.

GMGN’s wallet detail page shows 7D and 30D PnL for any address, per its docs read 27 Oct 2026. Look there before you paste anything into the bot.

Two of Fomo’s biggest wallets sell often, as this piece on when to sell a meme coin shows with GMGN buy and sell counts.

What happens between the leader’s buy and your fill?

The sequence has six steps:

1. The leader’s wallet buys a token on-chain.

2. Banana Gun sees that buy while your copy trade is “Active”; the “Active” time sets how long it keeps copying, for example 8 hours.

3. Your filters run, and “Max Market Cap”, “Tax Limit” and “Buy Only Once” can each skip the token.

4. Your size is set by “Buy Exact”, “Buy Percent” or “Buy Fixed”, with “Max Buy” as the cap per copied buy.

5. Your order goes out with the Anti-MEV, MEV tip, gas and slippage values from your Advanced Settings.

6. Your fill lands after the leader’s, at whatever price the pool shows by then.

The Banana Gun Solana docs give the sizing examples. With “Max Buy” at 3 SOL and a leader buy of 5 SOL, you buy 3 SOL.

Set “Buy Percent” to 50% and a 2 SOL leader buy becomes 1 SOL for you. Set “Buy Fixed” to 1 SOL and you buy 1 SOL whether the leader buys 0.5 or 2 SOL.

With “Buy Exact”, you match the leader’s amount whenever it is under your “Max Buy”.

How does selling work in a copy trade?

“Copy Sells” is an on/off switch: with it on you sell when the leader sells, and with it off you hold until you decide otherwise.

In the Telegram trading bot, “Setup Limit Order” inside the copy trade menu places buy and sell limit orders, and the “Setup Sell Limit Order” screen offers “Take Profit” or “Stop Loss”. Sell sizing comes as “Sell Exact” or “Sell Percentage”.

How active is a copied wallet really?

GMGN’s 30-day stats for frank, pulled 27 Oct 2026 at 09:12 UTC, show 257 buys and 274 sells. That is about 8.6 buys a day.

Unipcs, on the same pull, made 73 buys and 250 sells over 30 days. That pattern fits a wallet closing positions in pieces, and with “Copy Sells” on, each of those sells can trigger a sell from you.

A busy leader is why “Spending Limit” exists: it caps the total per wallet, and trades above it fail.

Where does copy trading go wrong?

Lag comes first. You buy after the leader, at whatever price the pool shows by then, which can be higher than the leader’s entry.

A leader can also stop. GMGN’s stats for AJC (27 Oct 2026, 09:12 UTC) show 0 buys and 0 sells over 7 days.

Over 30 days AJC made 6 buys and 9 sells, with a realized result of -$3,600. A copy trade on that wallet sits idle.

Results move under you. Frank’s 30-day realized profit on GMGN fell from +$863,301 on 8 Oct to +$258,719 on 27 Oct 2026, a drop of $604,582 or about 70%, and his 7-day figure that morning was -$77 on 8 buys.

Banana Gun’s docs warn that copy trading means entrusting your capital to another trader. Some target wallets may buy pump-and-dumps or honeypots and use copy traders as exit liquidity, so the docs tell you to review a wallet’s recent trades in a wallet scanner first.

A take profit has its own failure: if the price never reaches the level you set, the order never sells.
