Since I write for GVN Talking Comics, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I would take an interest in who US fans think is number one in the comic book hero world. Thankfully, the good people at Casino.Org and Infographics have done the leg work for this very question. Asking fans all over the US who rules the roost in capes and tights. Just in time for the upcoming National Comic Book Day and of course, Batman Day! So, who do you think it is? I’ll give you time to shout out your answers. Or type them out, since unless I live with you, I will not hear you no matter how loud you are. Here’s a hint…we are celebrating HIS day today.
Yes, how fitting that on Batman Day, Batman was voted as the most popular superhero. Much to the chagrin of the other, more powerful heroes. Maybe they need better PR people. Regardless in a nationwide survey taken by Infographics, Batman reigns supreme. Here is their chart that breaks down each character’s popularity by state.

In addition, the most popular villains were led by members of Batman’s villainous circle with Joker leading the way, followed by Catwoman and Harley Quinn. Marvel Villains only scratched the surface at number 4 and 5 with Loki and Magneto. However, you will also notice that as far as Comics Brand, Marvel beat out DC by a healthy margin, 66.8% – 33.2%. Makes one wonder how you can have three of the most popular heroes and villains but get beat out badly overall. Perhaps Marvel’s past successful cinematic history is swaying things. You can read the entire article here, breaking down the numbers a little further. Many thanks to Rhiannon Odonohoe for passing this along to us.
