‘Beast Games’ Season 2 Review – One Of The Best Reality TV Competition Shows Ever

Nine people in black outfits stand in a row, each behind a suitcase labeled "$100K," in a minimalist white room with black accents.

.At the end of 2024, Mr. Beast broke into the world of reality TV in partnership with Prime Video for Beast Games. The first season saw the winner take home $10 million. However, in total, Mr. Beast gave away over $25 million. The innovative series that balances Survivor, Squid Game, and several other competition shows has returned for its second season. The high-stakes game of reality TV sees Mr. Beast raise the bar like no one ever has before.

Season two of Beast Games will pit “strong vs. smart,” with over 100 smart contestants and 100 strong contestants battling it out for the $5 million cash prize. Over the course of the season, competitors will face off in larger-than-life competitions that will test their strength, smarts, and ultimately come down to a lot of luck. The second season even sees the return of some contestants from season one.

I was a massive fan of season one of Beast Games. Whether it was Mr. Beast himself or his team, you can tell this was built around the idea of throwing all the reality TV competition shows before it into one big bowl and coming out with an insane and wild show that was as cutthroat as ever. Of course, when you shift into a second season, people have seen the first one, and within that, you witness even MORE strategy and gameplay.

Like movies and TV shows, you are only as good as your cast. If you cast 200 boring people, you are going to get a bad show. One of the biggest steps up from the first season is the casting. This has to do with people understanding the game and understanding what is at stake. I truly hope people understand that the backstabbing moves we see (there are many) transpire all for the sake of trying to win $5 million. Oftentimes, people get mad watching players make moves to position themselves better, which makes me IRATE. Mr. Beast is bringing back the ruthless world of reality TV I grew up on, and I love it.

Within the first three episodes, Mr. Beast was up to his old ways by challenging someone to turn their back on their team for a million dollars. In each episode, you think you know what is happening, but the twists keep coming. Episode 9 of Beast Games may go down as one of the best episodes in reality TV history. Although the games are bigger, the game within the game sees the stakes grow to an insane level.

What makes this series stand out is the larger-than-life scale in which the games take place. This production team, alongside Squid Game: The Challenge, deserves all the awards come Emmy season. The jaw-dropping set pieces truly make for an incredible movie-like experience.

Season two of Beast Games does the impressive feat of superseding what you saw in season one. I wasn’t certain that he would be capable of topping the first season with how over-the-top and lavish it was, but I was wrong. The high-stakes, cutthroat aspect only enhanced the second season. What they have created almost feels like you are watching a movie each week. Having seen what transpires this season, I can promise you everyone is in for a REAL treat this season. Beast Games is easily one of the best competition reality TV shows ever.

The first three episodes of Beast Games Season 2 are streaming on Prime Video. It will air weekly until the finale on February 25.
