Legally Blonde 3 is happening! In a recent interview with Mindy Kaling, who is working on the script alongside Dan Goor of Brooklyn Nine-Nine; the actress talked about what we can expect for Elle in the long-awaited sequel:
“I can’t wait to see what people think. How Elle Woods is at 40 versus when she was 21 has been really fun to imagine. Hopefully. I don’t know when we’ll be able to shoot movies again. Shooting it this year would be awesome. I can’t wait for you guys to see this movie.”
One of the biggest touchstones of the Legally Blonde world is the practice of the Bend and Snap. Kaling reveals that we’ll see the Bend and Snap again in the third film:
“Bend and Snap is forever. We definitely have a lot of fan favorites from the original. We’ll still do that.”
Kaling continued:
“I love the franchise so much. I love Elle Woods as a character and when Reese asked me to write it I was like, ‘Absolutely!'”
Kaling expressed that they are hoping to begin filming this year and be released in 2022. Of course, with COVID-19 still around, all dates are fluid.
