Fans of Benedict Cumberbatch and M. Night Shyamalan, get ready for some exciting news. According to Giant Freakin Robot, the actor is in final negotiations to star in Trap, the upcoming film from the director. This project marks the first collaboration between the two.

The film is the first to arrive as part of Shyamalan’s multi-year first-look directing and producing deal he signed with Warner Bros. earlier this year. The movie’s plot details are being kept under wraps for now, so it’s unclear who Cumberbatch will be playing. However, assuming his talks go well, he will be the lead in the film.

Trap is currently scheduled to hit theaters on August 2, 2024.

Shyamalan’s filmmaking career has seen its fair share of peaks and valleys over the years. While he has had seven films that have opened at number one, some of his films have not been well-received by audiences and critics alike. However, with Benedict Cumberbatch on board, fans are excited to see what this new collaboration will bring.

As for Cumberbatch, he has several projects in the pipeline, including the sci-fi movie Morning, in which he stars opposite Laura Dern, and Rogue Male, a film based on the 1939 novel of the same name by Geoffrey Household, which he will both produce and star in. He is a busy actor with a reputation for taking on complex and diverse roles, and if he decides to accept the lead role in Trap, it will be interesting to see how he fares in the psychological horror genre.

Regardless of how Trap turns out, fans of both Cumberbatch and Shyamalan will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on this upcoming film. Only time will tell if this new collaboration will be a hit or a miss, but one thing is for sure: it’s sure to be an intriguing addition to both of their filmographies.
