Netflix Premieres Zach Galifianakis’ Between Two Ferns: The Movie Trailer

Netflix today premiered Zach Galifianakis’ new Between Two Ferns: The Movie trailer, a YouTube series as seen broadcasted on the Funny or Die Channel. The comedic show is known for its dry, awkward comedy mostly instigated by Zach’s rather somber, caustic, passive-aggressive, insolent, and weak insults.

It’s a wonder how a feature movie could be made out of a YouTube series of short clips, but it looks like the solution to that was to put Zach through the trails and tribulations of going on the road with this show. The Netflix trailer indicated a slew of Hollywood names and “other celebrities”. The trailer opens with Matthew McConaughey being interviewed by Zach and a watery accident ensues. This appears to be the catalyst that sets off the main protagonist’s “quest”.

Flashbacks of the Harold & Kumar, Fanboys, Bubble Boy, and all other comedies involving road trips came to mind. The difference between Zach’s movie and the others? His two ferns. According to the trailer, Zach has made some kind of a deal with what looks to be a studio exec. (Will Farrell) to make 10-episodes.

The Between Two Ferns movie seems to be basically new episodes of what we could have just watched premiere on YouTube, but with a cross-country adventure thrown in. What are your thoughts on The Hangover’s franchises’ star’s new Netflix trailer?
