Making the rounds doing press for the Bumblebee, Metro USA caught up with producer Lorenzo diBonaventura who spoke about life about the potential for an Optimus Prime solo film but he called it “tricky” saying
“It will be hard with Optimus, he is always right, very stoic and is a man of few words … It is kind of like saying, ‘Lets do a movie about Obi-Wan Kenobi?’ But how much is there to say about Obi-Wan? It is not so easy.”
While Optimus Prime is for sure the most popular Transformer, he was the main focus of 5 films and has a role in the Bumblebee film. Would fans want to see a solo Prime film? diBonaventura also opened up about other films in the franchise and spoke about a new animated film being developed
“We actually have an animated movie in the works that will tell the whole Cybertron mythology. The fans will love that”
The Transformers films have been huge hits outside the domestic box office and that should be enough to get more films green lit.
How do you feel about an Optimus Prime solo film? Are you burnt out on these types of films for now or do you want to see more? Comment below with your thoughts.
