Bumblebee Surpasses $400 Million Worldwide, Sequel Planned

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”13868″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]The Bumblebee movie has been wildly regarded as:

“the Transformers movie they’ve been waiting and yearning for, which means a more authentic look at some of their favorite characters and dosing down of the super-action in previous, Michael Bay-directed chapters.” – RelishMix.

So, it should come as no surprise that the Autobot centered film has made about $400 million worldwide. The movie has the potential to make even more and with that, a sequel is in the works. Travis Knight brought us this beloved movie that focused on the story of one of the most well-known characters within the Transformers world. The sequel that is in the works may feature more of a Bumblebee and Optimus Prime connection and there’s word that there’s an animated movie on its way, as well as many other Transformers movies planned to make their own extended universe from.

Bumblebee producer, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura says,

“We had many objectives (including) to bring a new set of families into the series, and that succeeded; in the after markets that will continue to succeed in a big way. Part of our obligation was to bring people back who had left the franchise or never experienced it which worked well… We are finding our way. Our intention was we wanted to please the core fans but also bring a new audience.”

Bumblebee has made $130 million as of today and if it keeps going, it could surpass Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which made $165 million when released in 2011. For a movie with a lower budget than its predecessors, it proves that biggie is not always better. Have you had a chance to go see Bumblebee?
