Castle Rock’s Jane Levy Open to play ‘Batgirl’

It’s rare for a fan-cast to turn up as the actual character, but for Batgirl fans, the spark is alive and shining bright. Castle Rock star Jane Levy says that she is honored to be considered as a true Barbara Gordon by fans. Although it’s reported that Batgirl won’t make an appearance in the upcoming Warner Bros. Birds of Prey movie, it seems that Levy would take any role in the DCU.

“I don’t know who Huntress or Black Canary [are]. 100%, I’m in. Thank you for getting me a job. Yes, I’m in.” Levy told MTV during her SDCC interview, on whether or not she’d be interested in playing another role in the DCU. While Batgirl may not pop up in the Birds of Prey film, which will feature Suicide Squad’s Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn; there has been rumors that a Batgirl standalone film is in development. Maybe then Levy can get her chance as Barbara Gordon!

Originally, Joss Whedon was meant to tackle a standalone Batgirl film, but ultimately stepped away from the project. Whedon reported to Variety that he was “heartbroken” to step away from the movie because his idea didn’t fit into the plans for the DCEU. Whether Batgirl will happen, we don’t have any definitive answers, just as we don’t yet have a release date for Birds of Prey.
