Chris Pine Speaks Out a Possible 4th ‘Star Trek’ Film

In order to do a Star Trek movie, you need a Captain Kirk. Chris Pine has been excelling in his role as the Enterprise’s captain for three previous film, but his involvement and a fourth movie altogether, is up in the air. It had previously been reported that he and Chris Hemsworth were out. While I would have enjoyed Hemsworth in a fourth installment, it was even more daunting that Pine was not going to be in it. What would they have done? Have Zachary Quinto’s Spock command the ship or re-cast? Either way, it wouldn’t have felt much like a Star Trek film.

Now, an interview reveals that Pine may just be up for a fourth movie.

“I don’t know, man. I’d love to be involved, and we’ll see what happens. I’ll await the phone call. Until then, I look forward to it.”

The answer isn’t too detailed, but it gives us hope. Karl Urban, who plays Leonard McCoy had this to say:

“[Star Trek Beyond] did pretty well. But still, for a movie that cost what it cost to make, the profit margins aren’t that great and so particularly Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pine subsequently have done big movies, and their quotes have gone up. And so I am pretty confident though that Paramount and those guys, they will figure it out. Because I know Chris. We were all in touch recently and everybody wants to do it and make it happen. So, if Paramount is willing, there will be a way to make it happen. So, fingers crossed.”

While we wait to see what the future holds for the Star Trek film franchise, we can see Chris Pine in the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984. And, if this doesn’t work out, maybe we can do a reboot of Star Trek: Next Generation? I vote Tom Hiddleston as Lt. Data.
