Christopher Meloni Will Reprise His SVU Role in a New Spin-Off Series

Looks like Christopher Meloni finally decided it was time to return to his Law & Order: SVU roots. While it’s not Special Victims Unit he’s returning to, he will reprise his iconic role of Elliot Stabler. NBC has order a thirteen-episode series that follows Stabler as the head of an NYPD organized crime division. Reportedly, Matt Olmstead is being eyed to serve as the showrunner and writer. Dick Wolf will executive produce.

Meloni left SVU at the end of season twelve of SVU. While it seemed, at the time; that there could not be an SVU without him, SVU is currently on its 21st season. It also has been ordered up to season 24. Mariska Hargitay is still around as Olivia Benson, Ice-T is still around as Det. Finn and the show has enjoyed series regulars like Peter Scanavino as Sonny Carisi and Kelli Giddish as Amanda Rollins. In the show, in season three; it was written that Stabler retired from the police department. There were reports about money being the reason for Meloni leaving. Since then, he’s appeared in series and movies, but we all know him as Detective Elliot Stabler.

Are you excited to see Meloni back as Stabler?
