Resident Evil Prequel Film: Exploring the Origins

Following the release of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City in 2021, Constantin Film is now producing a prequel that will delve into the events of Resident Evil Zero. Set for a 2025 release, the film promises to stay true to the game’s narrative, offering fans a faithful adaptation while weaving in elements from the broader Resident Evil lore.

    Key Details of the Prequel:

    • Filming Location and Timeline: The production is taking place in Canada and will continue until December this year. Fans can expect to hear more about the cast by October.
    • Budget: The film is set to be a substantial $30 million production, indicating a significant investment in bringing the game’s intense atmosphere to life.
    • Character Focus: The story will center on Billy Coen, a convict with a murky past, giving audiences a deeper understanding of his character.
    • Inclusion of Ada Wong: To create a seamless narrative bridge with “Welcome to Raccoon City,” Ada Wong will be introduced, adding complexity to her character’s journey in the Resident Evil universe.
    • Faithful Adaptation: Fans can look forward to a film that honors the original “Resident Evil Zero” game while incorporating strong references to other titles in the franchise.

With these elements, the prequel aims to satisfy long-time followers of the series and attract new viewers with its rich backstory and intricate character development.

New Resident Evil Netflix Series: A Fresh Storyline

In addition to the film, Constantin Film is developing a new Resident Evil series for Netflix. The new series will not have any connection with the Resident Evil series released in 2022; in other words, it will have a totally new story. The series will consist of 6 episodes.

    Key Aspects of the Series:

    • Standalone Story: The series will not be connected to previous Resident Evil adaptations. Instead, it will introduce an entirely new storyline set in a world ravaged by the T-Virus.
    • Protagonist: The plot will follow Sophia Marcus, the daughter of a significant figure, as she navigates a post-apocalyptic landscape to find a cure for the virus. Her journey will lead her to an abandoned Umbrella base in Europe, promising a mix of action, suspense, and mystery.
    • Iconic Monsters: True to the franchise’s roots, the series will feature a host of formidable creatures from the games, including Zombies, Lickers, Spiders, Hunters, and the terrifying Chainsaw Man.
    • Infection’s Origins: The opening episode will delve into the origins of the global infection, setting the stage for the series’ intense narrative.
    • References to Games: While the series won’t feature characters from the games, it will be peppered with references, providing Easter eggs for keen-eyed fans.
    • Production Timeline: The script has already been approved, and filming is set to begin in 2025.

    Expanding the Resident Evil Universe

Both projects underscore Constantin Film‘s commitment to expanding the Resident Evil universe in ways that honor the original material while exploring new storytelling avenues. The prequel film and the Netflix series are poised to offer distinct yet complementary experiences, catering to the diverse tastes of Resident Evil fans.

As the production of these projects progresses, fans are eagerly awaiting more details and sneak peeks. With a mixture of familiar faces, new characters, and the signature blend of horror and action, Constantin Film’s latest endeavors promise to enrich the Resident Evil franchise and keep its legacy alive for years to come.

Constantin Films will never learn! I hate them so fuckin’ much for ruining my favorite game franchise with these shitty films! They need to stop! They have yet to make a good RE film or TV series, and the Capcom animated films aren’t better either.

Constantin films is bound by film politics rules and everyone can see though this world wide , thus why Leon and Jill showed no resemblance to there faithful looks from the game in the film Welcome to Raccoon City. These Resident Evil Films are getting on peoples nerves, exactly like how they kept destorying the Terminator mythology one film after another.

    • NO ONE LIKES welcome to raccoon city
    • A film about Zero should follow Rebecca not Billy
    • Zero is at the bottom of favorites with the numbered game series
    • If Rebecca does not resemble Rebecca this film WILL FLOP
    • Welcome to raccoon city is one of the worst films ever made period
    • This movie needs to flop so a private producer can acclaim the rights and make a real Resident Evil movie, Fans have only been waiting since 2002 for a film that is accurate to the original game and faithful to the original game which is titled RESIDENT EVIL and not an embarrassment of films which have been produced thus far.

This is going to crash & burn so bad. Adapting RE seems to be the most impossible thing to do.

You would think after the Netflix show being as bad as Dragonball Evolution they would at least try to make an effort to research the source material first.

Making characters that don’t exist in the games again, did they just watch Paul Andersons films & the rest then dump their own stupid ideas together.

Capcom needs to get the rights back & hire competent people to adapt their series.
