All good things must come to an end, sometimes too soon. On Friday, Ben Edlund, creator of The Tick announced the end of the series. Its a result of failed efforts to find the superhero series a new home after being canceled by Amazon in May. Disappointed fans can now join the ranks of Marvel fans that had their favorite shows booted from a streaming service.
With critical acclaim for both of its seasons and much love from its fanbase, this news comes as a huge shock. The shows creator announced the news via Twitter saying,
“After much door-knocking we have found no new home for the Tick series in this current market. #SaveTheTick & #LunaTickArmy I’m sorry we could not reward your glorious support with better news. I am so proud of the show, of the cast and crew and writers, and so warmed by the fans.”
However, Edlund retains some hope in his last tweet of the day:
“Please continue to choose love and hope for good things. And I think we might as well accept it as a law of the universe: when the time is right #TheTick always comes back…”
A good show always finds its way back in some form or fashion. Whether it finds a new home or ends up as a feature film, I believe The Tick will return.
