Connor Wong as Dave and Lochlyn Munro as Jeff in "Cheat Code" Creepshow

CREEPSHOW, the anthology series based on the 1982 horror comedy classic, is still the most fun you’ll ever have being scared! A comic book comes to life in a series of vignettes, exploring terrors ranging from murder, creatures, monsters, and delusions to the supernatural and unexplainable. You never know what will be on the next page…

For in-depth thoughts on Creepshow: The Complete Fourth Season, please see my colleague Michael Cook’s reviews from its original streaming release below:

    • Episode One – Cassandra/Smile
    • Episode Two – The Hat/Grieving Process
    • Episode Three – Parent Death Trap/To Grandmother’s House We Go
    • Episode Four – Meet The Belaskos/Cheat Code
    • Episode Five – Something Borrowed, Something Blue/Doodles
    • Episode Six – George Romero In 3D/Baby Teeth

    Video Quality

The fourth season of Creepshow comes to Blu-Ray with a stellar 1080p presentation that brings this one to life exactly as you desire. Discrete facial features are readily apparent, such as the stomach-churning makeup work that lends itself to intricate practical effects texture. The series is replete with unique environments and enterprising cinematography that is presented with perfect clarity on this disc. Colors from the gore and costumes radiate off the screen alongside the unique landscapes and filmmaking styles. Black levels are rarely an issue and retain detail in the shadows. Whether exploring bright highlights or darker, shadowy sequences, skin tones and facial details are rendered with prominence. Hardly any instances of compression artifacts crept up over these two discs. This transfer succeeds in every way imaginable.

    Audio Quality

The Blu-Ray disc comes with a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track that is equally in top form. Dialogue largely stays in front center channels and is reproduced clearly. The mix does a fine job of making sure neither sound effects nor the score ever overpowers this element. The series leans heavily on dialogue, but you will find yourself equally captivated by the chilling atmospheric effects that play well on all of the channels. The score brings a personality to the series that fills up the room on this track. There is some lovely ambient activity in the rear channels, especially during scenes when the story dictates it. The low end does every single thing it intends to do. Fans are going to enjoy this release. There are optional English SDH and Spanish subtitles provided.

    Final Thoughts

Creepshow is a series that we always get excited about when we hear a new release date announcement. Anthology series are always a blast, and this one is one of the most consistent in the arena these days. The latest installment features the occasional disappointment, but the consistent level of high-quality stories will make fans grin from ear to ear. There are some great guest stars this season, and the production does not skimp when it comes to crafting something that feels tactile and unique. As long as they maintain the quality, we will welcome back this series year after year. RLJE Entertainment has released a Blu-Ray featuring a great A/V presentation but no special features. If you typically enjoy the series, this is worth adding to your collection. Recommended

Creepshow: The Complete Fourth Season will be available to purchase on Blu-Ray and DVD on December 5, 2023.
