Disney came to D23 with plenty to talk about.
The company packed its Friday night Entertainment Showcase with updates from Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Pixar, Walt Disney Animation, Disney Television, 20th Century Studios and more, revealing everything from the MCU’s new X-Men to another trip into the world of Frozen.
Some projects received release dates. Others brought casting announcements, trailers or the first concrete story details we’ve heard. A few were completely new.
Here is everything you need to know from Disney’s massive D23 2026 presentation.
Marvel Studios Finally Reveals Its New X-Men
Marvel Studios ended months of speculation by officially unveiling the principal cast for Jake Schreier’s upcoming X-Men movie.
Sadie Sink, who debuted as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will continue in the role alongside Kit Connor as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue and Maya Boyd as Storm.
Adam Driver will play Nathaniel Milbury, better known to comic fans as Mister Sinister.
The untitled X-Men movie opens May 5, 2028.
Avengers: Doomsday Gets A New Look
Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell joined Kevin Feige onstage to debut a new special look at Avengers: Doomsday, along with a new poster.
The film will bring heroes from three different universes onto what Marvel describes as a deadly collision course. Downey stars as Victor von Doom, while the massive ensemble includes Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn and many more.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18, 2026, with tickets now on sale.
VisionQuest Gets A Release Date And Trailer
Paul Bettany and James Spader appeared for Marvel Television’s VisionQuest, which will premiere October 14 on Disney+.
The series finds Vision in hiding after escaping those who wanted to weaponize him. His programming contains AI personalities including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H. and Ultron, while his path eventually crosses with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious young man who may have a deeper connection to Vision than either initially understands.
Marvel describes the series as the conclusion to the trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued through Agatha All Along.
Marvel’s Wolverine Gets A September Release Date
Insomniac Games also joined the Marvel portion with a new trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine.
The PlayStation 5 exclusive will launch September 15, giving Marvel fans another major Wolverine project just weeks after D23.
Ahsoka Season 2 Arrives In January
Dave Filoni brought Rosario Dawson, Hayden Christensen and Eman Esfandi to the stage to unveil the first teaser for Ahsoka Season 2.
The Disney+ series returns January 20, 2027, with Ahsoka and Sabine still attempting to find their way home while Ezra, Hera, Zeb and Chopper deal with Grand Admiral Thrawn’s plans for the New Republic.
Christensen’s appearance also confirms that Anakin Skywalker remains part of the story after his memorable involvement in Season 1.
Ryan Gosling Leads Star Wars: Starfighter
Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling provided the first major look at Star Wars: Starfighter, which reaches theaters May 28, 2027.
Gosling plays Kade Auberon, a cynical rogue whose mysterious past sends him on an unexpected journey across the galaxy. The cast also includes Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Amy Adams, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings and Flynn Gray.
Footage was shown exclusively to the D23 audience.
Incredibles 3 Is Coming In Summer 2028
Pixar confirmed that the Parr family will return to theaters June 16, 2028, in Incredibles 3.
Peter Sohn is directing, with Brad Bird and Dana Murray producing. The first footage teased a larger role for the younger generation of superheroes, with Pixar signaling that the Parr children may finally get more opportunities to operate independently.
Coco 2 Brings Back Ernesto De La Cruz
Pixar also revealed that Miguel will be a teenager in Coco 2, which is scheduled for November 2029.
Benjamin Bratt appeared to confirm the return of Ernesto de la Cruz. His reemergence will somehow force Miguel into another life-changing journey through the Land of the Dead.
Original director Lee Unkrich and co-director Adrian Molina are returning.
Pixar Announces Ghost Market
One of the evening’s genuine surprises was Ghost Market, a new original Pixar movie arriving in March 2028.
The story follows Kyle, a fast-talking kid who accidentally discovers ʻOno Market, a hidden plate-lunch restaurant on Oʻahu’s North Shore that serves spirits trapped between life and death.
Trevor Jimenez and Jesse Andrews are directing.
Gatto Introduces Mark Ruffalo’s Cat Nero
Pixar also showed more of Gatto, directed by Luca filmmaker Enrico Casarosa.
Mark Ruffalo voices Nero, a black cat living in Venice who owes a debt to feline mob boss Rocco, voiced by Laurence Fishburne. The film arrives March 5, 2027.
Kingdom Hearts IV Is Coming In Late 2027
Square Enix and Disney Games finally narrowed down the release window for Kingdom Hearts IV to late 2027.
D23 also revealed that the game will include a world based on Pixar’s Coco, with footage showing Sora exploring the colorful Land of the Dead.
Disney Is Also Making A Kingdom Hearts Animated Series
The gaming announcement was not the only Kingdom Hearts surprise.
Disney has officially greenlit an animated series inspired by the franchise for Disney Channel and Disney+. Developed alongside creator Tetsuya Nomura and Square Enix, the show will tell a new story rather than simply adapting the games scene for scene.
Zootopia 3 Is Officially Happening
After the success of Zootopia 2, Disney Animation wasted little time confirming another adventure for Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde.
Zootopia 3 is officially in early development. Disney has not announced a release date yet, although a special sequence was created for the D23 presentation.
Frozen 3 Reveals Anna’s Wedding And A New Threat
Frozen 3 closed the evening with new animation featuring Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven.
The footage teased Anna and Kristoff’s wedding along with a mysterious new female antagonist whose powers appear capable of challenging Elsa. Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel also performed a new version of “Frozen Heart,” while Josh Gad debuted Olaf’s new song, “Ooooh, Samantha.”
Frozen 3 opens November 24, 2027.
Lilo & Stitch 2 Brings Angel Into Live Action
Disney’s billion-dollar live-action Lilo & Stitch is officially getting a sequel, and Stitch will finally meet Angel.
Chris Sanders, the co-creator of the original animated film and longtime voice of Stitch, will direct. Production begins in Hawaii later this year ahead of a May 26, 2028 theatrical release.
Disney’s Live-Action Tangled Sets Its Cast And Release Date
Kathryn Hahn appeared as Mother Gothel to promote Disney’s live-action Tangled.
Teagan Croft stars as Rapunzel opposite Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider. Diego Luna plays a new character named Hawthorne, with Caitríona Balfe as Queen Arianna and Elliot Cowan as King Frederic.
Michael Gracey is directing the film, which is currently shooting in Spain and opens March 31, 2028.
The Bluey Movie Gets Its First Teaser
Disney debuted the teaser for The Bluey Movie, written and directed by series creator Joe Brumm.
The CG-animated film follows Bluey and her family through an eventful day changed by a major surprise. Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack return as Chilli and Bandit when the movie arrives August 6, 2027.
Ice Age: Boiling Point Introduces Jurassic Scrat
The Ice Age herd returns February 5, 2027, with Ice Age: Boiling Point.
Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah and Simon Pegg are back, while D23 footage introduced Jurassic Scrat, an enormous prehistoric relative of everyone’s favorite acorn-obsessed troublemaker.
Oswald The Lucky Rabbit Returns In 2027
Jon Favreau is bringing one of Disney’s oldest characters into the modern world with Oswald, a live-action/animation hybrid series.
The story begins when an earthquake frees Oswald after the cartoon rabbit has somehow remained hidden since the 1920s. A group of kids then attempts to help him navigate modern life.
The series premieres February 17, 2027, on Disney+.
Romy & Michele 2 Heads To Hulu
Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow reunited onstage for Romy & Michele 2.
Tim Federle directs the sequel, with Alan Cumming, Keegan-Michael Key, Janeane Garofalo, Breckin Meyer, Wendi McLendon-Covey and others joining the returning duo.
The movie will debut exclusively on Hulu in 2027.
The Simpsons Are Heading Back To Theaters
D23 also included a sneak peek at the next theatrical Simpsons movie.
The currently untitled film opens September 3, 2027, marking the family’s long-awaited return to theaters after the original The Simpsons Movie.
Percy Jackson Season 3 Gets A November Premiere
Disney+ debuted the teaser for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3, which adapts The Titan’s Curse.
Walker Scobell returns as Percy, while Ming-Na Wen will play Hera and Andra Day takes on Athena. The new season premieres November 20, 2026.
National Geographic Unveils LION
Jon Favreau and Mike Gunton introduced LION, a National Geographic series filmed over four years in Kenya’s Maasai Mara.
The series follows a real pride through the story of a cub named Kio as he grows toward becoming king. LION premieres August 19 on National Geographic and streams the following day on Disney+ and Hulu.
The Greatest Showman Is Heading To London’s West End
Disney Theatrical Group announced that its stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman will move to London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane in spring 2027 after its successful Bristol run.
Oliver Tompsett stars as P.T. Barnum alongside Samantha Barks as Charity Barnum, with Casey Nicholaw directing and choreographing.
Disney Just Laid Out A Very Busy Future
If there was one clear message from Friday’s D23 showcase, it was that Disney has no intention of slowing down.
Marvel is transitioning from Avengers: Doomsday into a new generation of X-Men. Star Wars has both Ahsoka and Starfighter moving forward. Pixar is mixing major sequels with originals like Ghost Market and Gatto, while Disney Animation is already extending two of its biggest modern franchises with Frozen 3 and Zootopia 3.
And that was only Friday night.
D23 continues throughout the weekend, meaning Disney still has more announcements to come before the doors close in Anaheim.
