The full track arrives ahead of an extended deluxe edition of the film’s soundtrack, which will be released Friday, August 14 and adds 20 additional pieces of music from Pemberton’s trip to Eternia.

Masters Of The Universe Is Getting An Expanded Soundtrack
The original Masters of the Universe soundtrack gave Pemberton plenty of room to establish a musical identity for Prince Adam’s return to Eternia. The expanded release digs deeper into that work, offering listeners material that either appeared only briefly in the film or did not make the initial album.
“Prison Break” is a fitting example. A shorter “Prison Break (Edit)” appeared on the original soundtrack, while this newly released version gives fans more of the cue as it was developed for the film. For listeners who enjoy exploring how a score works beyond what can be heard beneath dialogue and action, it offers another perspective on Pemberton’s approach to the sequence.
That approach suits a property as unapologetically large as Masters of the Universe. He-Man is not exactly a character who calls for understated elevator music. Eternia is a world of ancient power, massive battles, strange technology and larger-than-life heroes and villains, and the score needed enough personality to match all of it without losing the sense of adventure at the heart of the franchise.
Daniel Pemberton Went Big For Eternia
The composer has described his Masters of the Universe work as one of his most maximalist scores, and the music reflects that ambition. Pemberton combines orchestral, choral, electronic and rock elements, allowing the score to move between Prince Adam’s more personal journey and the enormous fantasy spectacle surrounding He-Man.
He also brought some notable collaborators along for the ride. Queen guitarist Brian May contributed his unmistakable guitar work to music connected with the Sword of Power and Eternia, while The Darkness performed the film’s title song. Those additions give the soundtrack an appropriately oversized rock-and-fantasy personality without reducing it to an exercise in 1980s nostalgia.
The result is music that feels connected to the history of Masters of the Universe while still belonging to this particular version of the story. Pemberton embraces the inherent theatricality of the material rather than trying to make Eternia smaller or more restrained than it should be.
Masters Of The Universe Found A Huge Audience On Prime Video
The expanded soundtrack arrives after Masters of the Universe found a substantial audience beyond its theatrical release. The film went on to become the global No. 1 film on Prime Video, introducing the latest live-action interpretation of He-Man to viewers around the world.
That streaming success gives audiences another opportunity to notice details in Pemberton’s music that may have been overshadowed by the action the first time around. Film scores often reveal far more when heard independently, especially in a movie where dialogue, battles and sound design are constantly competing for attention.
Pemberton’s work is strong enough to exist outside those scenes. Its themes and musical ideas help define this version of Eternia rather than simply accompanying what is happening on screen.
“Prison Break” offers another chance to hear that world on its own terms.
