Much speculation has been about what studios will do with their content if the self-isolation continues. While many of the studios are holding out hopes for normalcy to return and the theaters to reopen, decisions are still being made. One such decision has been the that the STX action comedy film My Spy has been picked up by Amazon Prime.
For those not familiar, My Spy follows Dave Bautista as a hardened CIA operative named JJ. Because he was recently demoted, he finds himself doing surveillance duty on a family. This puts him in the crosshairs of a 9 year old girl named Sophie (Chloe Coleman). Sophie, who is quite intelligent for her age, finds his hidden cameras and also locates where his surveillance center is set. Because of this, and in exchange for her silence, Sophie requests that he teach her the ways of a spy.
This is hardly the first film that has already found its way to a streaming network. Films such as Onward, The Invisible Man, and Sonic the Hedgehog have already been transitioned to home viewing. As for My Spy, it has not been announced as of yet when Prime will be releasing the film. Needless to say, the minute we find out, we’ll pass it along. Are you surprised that My Spy has went to streaming? Do you expect other films to follow in its wake? Share which films you think are earmarked for streaming at GeekVibesNation.
