Dave Chappelle Sticks and Stones Review

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”28997″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Hello my fellow nerds, Cristian Garcia here AKA Friendly Neighborhood Mexican AKA co-host of Nerds with Friends Podcast and I’m on here to go over the highly talked about Dave Chappelle Standup special that Netflix dropped this Monday 08/26. In this special Dave Chappelle goes in head first on the cancel culture we’re currently expirecing.

To set the tone for the special Dave starts us off with lyrics from Prince’s 1982
“I was dreamin’ when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray
But when I woke up this mornin’, could’ve sworn it was judgment day
The sky was all purple, there were people runnin’ everywhere
Tryin’ to run from the destruction, you know I didn’t even care”.

This last line is the most important one to remember.  Dave knew the possible destruction that would follow from this special and like Prince stated, “you know I didn’t even care”.  Dave address’s this again when he mocks the audience for the cancel culture we’re currently living in

What I loved about this special was that it was a throwback to classic 80’s and 90’s comedy standup scene where no one was safe.  Comics went after everyone and Dave Chappelle went after damn near everyone. Dave Chappelle then hits the audience with a sincere statement, “if you feel that I made fun of you tonight, it’s because I see a little bit of myself in you”.  Like the Friars Roast Club moto, “you only roast the ones you love” and that’s what I hope people take from this special.  We tease the one’s we love.  If you’re a listener to our podcast Cody and myself roast each other all the time.  He makes fun of me for being Mexican and I bust his chops for his white privilege and we laugh our asses off.  Understanding our differences through teasing and laughter bonds our friendship tighter. Granted, that’s not to say that there aren’t any real cringe moments like when he makes fun of Trans people but I won’t be a hypocrite and say I didn’t laugh, uncomfortably, but I still laughed.

I’ve read a lot articles and seen a couple of videos of Republicans stating that Chappelle is “sticking is to these Libtards” or Chappelle was “making fun of those SJW snowflakes”.  Nope.  He’s not the champion you’re so desperately seeking.  Don’t believe me?  He hates guns.  Granted he owns a shit ton but like he states in his special, he only has theme to protect himself against the drug addicts in his hometown.  If you need further proof he stated that it was up to Black folks to help change the laws and the only way that was going to happen was if every able bodied Black American has to get up and make sure to register……………to have a legal fire arm, cause that’s the only way they’re going to change the laws.

Well my nerds, what do you think?  Am I way off?  Do you agree?  Feel free to @ me on Twitter @Nerdswithfriend just remember you’re not alone, you have Friends.  This is Nerds w/ Friends, thank you and good night![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
