March Propstore Auction Includes Iconic Dave Dorman Indiana Jones Comic Book Cover Art Thunder in the Orient

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—March 23, 2026—Thanks to Propstore, one of the world’s leading entertainment memorabilia auction houses, March 25, 2026 will be the first time art collectors gain exclusive access to invest in the one Dave Dorman oil painting that has eluded George Lucas’ personal art collection all of these years: the 1993 Indiana Jones comic book cover, Thunder in the Orient. Dorman painted the first issue cover for the Dark Horse Comics’ six-issues mini-series.

    Propstore COO Brandon Alinger

“Indiana Jones remains one of the most beloved characters in popular culture, and Dave Dorman’s striking cover for Thunder in the Orient is a wonderful tribute to that legacy. At Propstore, we see strong interest in original artwork, especially when it combines the artistry of a celebrated illustrator with the unmistakable image of Harrison Ford as Indy. We expect it to attract significant attention from collectors when it comes to auction.”

    Artist Dave Dorman

“George Lucas purchased more than 60 of my published Star Wars and Indiana Jones original oil paintings for his collection, but I held this one back all of these years because I treasured it. It is hard to part with, and it will forever hold a special place in my heart as one of my personal favorites.”

    The Pre-Sale Estimate

The pre‑sale estimate for the piece is $25,000–$50,000 (£19,000–£38,000). The Propstore live auction for Dorman’s art will be held on March 25, 2026 and requires online registration here. High‑res images can be downloaded here. For more information, please visit this link.
