If you haven’t gotten a chance to check out this new series, it is a new take on a post-apocalyptic era. All the adults are dead and it’s the teenager’s time to rule the land. While Colin Ford plays the lead Josh, he is essentially out shined by Angelica. Angelica is a little girl played by Alyvia Alyn Lind, who we were able to ask a few questions for her to answer. Check them out below! Also check out our interview with actor Cody Kearsely who plays Turbo Bro Jock.

Slight Spoilers

How did you get into the character of Angelica?

Angelica was easy to vibe with from the start, even though we have so many obvious differences.  I wanted to make Angelica more than just a bratty 10-year-old. I wanted to give her a spirit and energy that makes her likable and fun to watch. I knew the first time that I read “Daybreak” that Angelica was for me.

What was your favorite part about playing Angelica?

Other than Angelica being the best role ever written for my age, her Doc Marten wheelies where my absolute favorite part. It was a dream spending every day wheeling around set. I think it would be any kid’s dream.

What was the hardest scene that you had to film?

The most difficult scene to film was Angelica’s scene with Eli where she opens up for the first time about her mother. I wanted to show that she wanted so badly to break down her wall and connect with someone, and finding that vulnerability was challenging.

If there was an apocalypse, what would you do differently than Angelica?

If there was an apocalypse, I would want to find my own tribe immediately. Angelica is a little more independent and stubborn than I am and probably more capable of killing zombies than I would be.  Though…I learned a lot about survival working on this show!

Have your parents gotten to watch Daybreak yet?

My mother, who is also an actress, spent every day with me on set. My whole family is in the business and has been so supportive of me and excited for this series to premiere. They all knew that I was waiting for a part like Angelica, and couldn’t wait to see me play a role that is so different from who I am.  My sister Natalie guested on the show, and I’m hoping that we see more of Mavis next season (fingers crossed) so I get to spend more time with her!
