Old Hollywood. Why are we given this as our first glimpse of the issue? We soon see that this is all Doctor Manhattan’s doing, as he is shuffling through various years, trying to find something specific, all while bringing a few recognizable DC characters in, such as Hal Jordan, Katana, and others – for reasons that he says will be clear soon.
The goal for Doctor Manhattan seems to be finding Superman, specifically the year he was created. The moment where he became the first caped hero for people to look up to. He is ripping through the multiverse for the very purpose of finding something specific, something that we will find out later in the issue.
Doctor Manhattan enters the multiverse and explores all the ways that Superman has influenced and impacted society – the importance that he has. From the Justice Society of America wanting him as a member, to seeing how his name simply carries so much weight. We follow Doctor Manhattan as he watches Superman’s childhood and the moment Clark Kent discovered his true origins. All so Doctor Manhattan can better understand the man known as Superman – it’s incredibly interesting to see all these variations of the superhero we’ve all grown up with through the other character’s eyes.
Doomsday Clock #10 gives the feeling of a dark, ominous event is about to happen at any moment. All of Doctor Manhattan’s movements and findings are all leading to one revelation at the end, which if everything pans out the way it is set up for, will be destructive and devastating. I particularly enjoyed seeing Superman’s past and future through Manhattan’s eyes, as well as the on edge feeling the comic exuded, along with the neo-film noir aspect to the beginning of the issue.
As good as #10 is, I have to say it was all just leading up to the events in the next issue, which will surely be giving all of us something to talk about. Please pick up a copy of Doomsday Clock #10 and let us know what you think about it![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
