First of all, I absolutely love the illustration in this issue, as Red Hood’s costume is really well-done. There’s a distinct difference between this costume and the traditional Red Hood costume, which is not an insult towards the typical getup, but this one is a grittier and modern look.
Much of the comic centers around Red Hood and his interaction with Solitary, who seems to be clearly suffering from some mass delusion. Bunker also joins the fight at some point, which allows for a great team-up between Red Hood and Bunker. Teen Titans are mentioned, which should give any reader an indication as to how long Bunker has been held by Solitary.
Red Hood Out #31 is a gritty, dark comic issue while still being a fun strip – there’s nothing too dark, except some complicated “father”/son interactions. There’s some action here, but a lot of it consists of psychological games. And the way the issue ended off, we know that we’re going to have a good story ahead and honestly, Red Hood, the character; is written so well that we have to give credit to the writers, as they’ve really made this already well-liked character one of depth and layers.
I would say you need to pick up #31 and let me know what you also think of this latest installment!
