DC Comics Review: Shazam #2

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”13994″ img_size=”500×768″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]If you think of the board game Candyland and Willy Wonka, you’ll have an idea of Shazam #2. This recent issue of the series does not feature the actual hero Shazam, but focuses on Billy Batson and his foster family. Although, it is far from normal, with the children making their way through the magical subway ride and into a wild, colorful amusement park of sorts that would be any child’s dream.

While the children are having the time of their lives, Billy’s foster parents are dealing with very serious and heartbreaking issues, which Billy is unaware of. There may be a magical and mystical adventure going on, but there is some very real-life hills that are going to have to be dealt with.

If I am being honest, this issue was a tad disappointing. As fun and magical as this adventure that the children are on is, I found myself hoping that it would not take up the entire issue. Which, it did and it seems, based on the last panel; that we’ll see more in the next issue. Something is brewing though that will most likely be a danger to the children and bring out the Shazam family, but as of right now, the issue was a little bit of a filler than anything else.

But make sure to check out Shazam #2 for yourself and let me know how you feel!
