Synopsis
“The epic secrets of Superman continue to unfold! A few months in space with his paternal grandfather Jor-El changed Jon Kent forever. With Jon now seeking help from his father, the Man of Steel must learn about the war his son and father fought together and set right the wrongs his father may have unleashed on other worlds. See what changed Superboy in such radical ways as the Unity Saga continues.” – DC Comics
Story
Superman #8 starts off with Jon trying to figure out his self-worth. What is his overall part in this massive universe also scared of not meeting expectation, much like any other child thinks eventually, at the same time Jor-El is also facing an identity crisis he is a man of science and when who loses that believe he has no idea what he should do.
This is where I start to think this is where the story goes into a new direction. This is a story for Jon to find his self-worth by traveling with his grandfather but he struggles to do so because Jon’s grandfather has problems himself.
For me, this story juggles way too much then it needs to. I hope it pays off at the end but for this story, it should have stuck with one problem.
Art
The art in this is brilliant the expression when Superman gets angry and flies off I actually felt scared and pissed off at the same time. Scared of what Superman might do but also pissed off because of what Jor-El did.
Overall Thoughts
I loved the character moments in this issue from Jon meeting Kilowog and Arisia, Louis with her son again and the beautiful art as always never fails to impress but not loving the Jor-El losing faith in science. I feel like that is a problem that is not necessary for the issue.
I would hold on until Superman #8 hits the Bargain Bin.[/vc_column_text][vc_images_carousel images=”15608,15651,15604,15605,15606,15607″ img_size=”400×611″ speed=”3000″ autoplay=”yes” wrap=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
