According to our sources, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment are currently in production on five animated shorts for release in the years 2019 and 2020. These will all be included in the DC Universe Movies releases, but with the exception of Batman: Death in the Family; this will anchor a compilation set in late 2020.

Here are the five shorts:

  • Sgt. Rock
  • Adam Strange
  • Death
  • The Phantom Stranger
  • Batman: Death in the Family

Sgt. Rock will be executive produced and directed by Bruce Timm. We will follow a battle-weary St. Rock who thinks that he has seen everything that World War II can offer, but we bet he’s never seen Nazi zombies. Karl Urban will voice Sgt. Rock in this gritty tale where he is in charge of leading a collection of legendary monsters against these strange, new enemies.

Adam Strange is produced and directed by Butch Lukic. Adam Strange is a hero who is essentially known as the town drunk on an asteroid mining colony. We will see flashbacks of this man’s heroic backstory, plus we will witness Adam struggle in order to save those who have put him down for so long. Charlie Weber will play the voice of Adam Strange

Death is inspired by author Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman and it will be produced and directed by Sam Liu. We will see Vincent, an artist with his own inner demons; meeting a mysterious girl who helps him come to terms with his own legacy and death. Leonardo Nam from Westworld will play Vincent and Jamie Chung will voice Death.

Bruce Timm returns to executive produce and direct The Phantom Stranger, which will take place in the 9170s and follow a young adult name Jess, who goes to join her friends at a party at a vacated mansion, hosted by the very mysterious Seth. The Phantom Stranger comes into play while saving Jess and her friends from a doomed fate, once things start going awry. Peter Serafinowicz will play The Phantom Stranger and Michael Rosenbaum will voice Seth.

Details on Batman: Death in the Family will come out in 2020.

Jim Krieg will co-produce all five shorts, as well as Amy McKenna as the producer and Sam Register as the executive producer.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
