The variant covers for DCEASED are incredible! Therefore, the two variant covers in this issue are mesmerizing. For that reason, I just stared at the art for ten minutes just before, I started reading! As a result, I find that Francesco Mattina & Yasmine Putri are some of the best artists we have to-date.
Story
Tom Taylor does a fantastic job starting this issue by giving us Aquaman because it shows the magnitude of the situation. Within DCEASED #1 we saw the virus spread throughout Metropolis and Gotham so what better place other than the ocean. In that last panel on the second page you will see a ton of blood in the ocean. It shows how far the virus has gotten. Not only, is the first two pages written in a way that is suspenseful and horrifying? The art is repulsive yet, satisfying to the eyes. This is not only thanks to Trevor Hairsine this is a team effort from Stefano Gaudino and Rain Beredo.
There is a lot going on in DCEASED #2 and it all works on a fantastic level. We got Jon trying to make sure Damian is alright meanwhile, Clark and Lois are trying to figure out if their parents are okay. Additionally, We got a beautiful moment with Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy that leads to an even better moment with a certain someone. At the same time, Dinah Lance, Oliver Queen, Hal Jordan are out camping trying to get away from everything after the Darkseid War but this also leads to someone getting the virus.
Buy/Pass?
If you have not gotten DCEASED #1 get it tomorrow also pick up DCEASED #2! Tom Taylor is going crazy with this story and all of the artist are doing a magnificent job!
