In the dark psychological thriller Deliver Us, we meet a group of people in a local community who have been struck by a crime without punishment. Evil has taken root, and fear has led to powerlessness setting in. That evil is Mike, a young man with no morals or boundaries. He is hyperintelligent and has the ability to threaten his victims, not only physically but by hitting their psychological weak spots. He is restless, energetic and has a complete lack of empathy. On the opposite end of the spectrum is Peter, the local town doctor and father of Aksel, a young boy whom Mike killed in a hit-and-run 18 months ago โ and got off scot-free. Retreating ever further into himself, Peter has been subsumed by anger towards a system of justice that failed him, and a burning desire for revenge against Mike. Quietly rallying a small group of like-minded townspeople, each with their own grudge against Mike, Peter decides the only way to rid the community of the evil that plagues it is to plot the seemingly perfect revenge murder. But playing God has devilish consequences for all. Deliver Us is a series about what happens when people let their innermost primitive instincts take over โ vengeance, hatred and wrath. At the same time, itโs a story about love: about how far we are willing to go to protect those we love.

Video Quality
Deliver Us arrives on Blu-Ray with a great 1080p transfer which provides a pleasant viewing experience from beginning to end. This limited series provides eight episodes over two discs which allows for enough room to breathe comfortably. With this being a modern series, the presentation lacks any significant flaws which results in a favorable high definition presentation. The cinematography is gorgeous with nice capturing of this small town in all its intricacy. Fine detail comes out in full force in the landscapes, production design and costumes.
The color palette maintains a natural quality as it showcases the hues of the environment and production design quite well. The series mostly delivers when it comes to shadow detail, but there are moments when noise can creep in a bit. The highlights are stable and do not veer into blooming. Skin tones likewise look natural throughout the season, and there are no digital anomalies to bring up. MHz Choice has done a great job with this presentation.
Audio Quality
The Blu-Ray set comes with both a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 track in the original Danish which more than delivers on its sonic needs. It should be made clear that there is not an English dub, but the series was made to be heard in its original language with optional English subtitles. The dialogue primarily stays focused in the center channel and is reproduced crisp and clear. The track does a great job of making sure neither sound effects nor the score ever overpowers the dialogue. The moody score elevates the emotions of the series as it fills up the room.
The series also delivers an incredible array of atmospheric effects that give this track a nice sense of dimensionality. The ambient activity in the mix makes each location feel a bit more lived-in and fleshed out. Certain locations really engage the surround channels with sounds flowing from their natural origins. This is not a series which puts action in the foreground, but there are some scuffles and implementation of weapons which put the low end to work. This series will not leave you disappointed when it comes to the audio experience.

Final Thoughts
Deliver Us is not your typical international import which finds a detective in a cold and overcast locale solving a grisly murder. That being said, there are still numerous familiar elements which coalesce into a pretty engaging narrative. If there is anything we know about small towns, it is that they are full of secrets, and there is a lot to sift through here. What helps this one stand apart is the truly heinous antagonist at the center of this story that keeps you pressing play to see if he is going to get what is coming to him. The series mostly delivers a satisfying arc with good twists and turns. MHz Choice and Kino Lorber have released a Blu-Ray set that offers a top notch technical presentation and virtually nothing in the way of special features. If you enjoy dramas dealing with questions of morality filled with engaging developments, this is a good one to check out. Recommended
Deliver Us will be available to purchase on Blu-Ray and DVD on July 18, 2023.
