Cover image for "Dick Tracy" by Chester Gould, featuring bold red title text on a yellow background and black-and-white comic illustrations of characters on the right.

Chester Gould created and illustrated the world of Dick Tracy from 1931 until 1977. During this time, he introduced a captivated audience to many beloved characters, including Tracy, the Chief, Mumbles, The Mole, Flattop, and Tess Trueheart. Coming soon, Clover Press will offer a four-book set of Classic Dick Tracy in definitive, deluxe editions through BackerKit.

From 1941 to 1944, fans of hard-boiled detective stories can relive the character and narratives as only Chester Gould envisioned. In addition to these beautiful collector books, they are also making available Dick Tracy Trading Cards, which we are proud to exclusively show our readers in advance of the campaign’s launch. This is all thanks to the kindness of Clover Press.

Black-and-white illustration of a man with slicked-back hair, closed eyes, and a cigarette in his mouth, labeled "KROME" on a file photo. A black and white illustration of a man labeled "Doc Codd" wearing glasses and a tie, featured on a Dick Tracy Case Files card with a yellow background. Black and white drawing of a man with slicked-back hair and sunglasses, smiling. The name "SELBERT" is printed below; "Dick Tracy Case Files" appears at the top. Black and white drawing of an elderly woman with glasses, a flower in her hair, and a labeled name "Mrs. Depool" at the bottom of the image. Black and white illustration of a man in a fedora and suit, shown in profile, labeled "The Czar" on a stylized case file background. Black-and-white illustration of a man in a hat and suit, smoking and reading a newspaper. The word "TRIGGER" appears below the image. Black and white drawing of a man in profile with a disproportionately small face on a large head, labeled "LITTLE FACE" on a Dick Tracy-themed card.

    Coming to BackerKit

Clover Press’s new collections offer readers a glimpse into the strip’s early years, featuring every strip published from 1941 to 1944. Each volume will be 11″ x 8.5″ in a horizontal format and housed in a vertical slipcase with fresh artwork by David Mack and Stewart Kenneth Moore, ensuring better protection and improved shelf organization.

More Than Just Four Great Books

Backers will receive all four volumes at once and can choose from different tiers and add-ons, which include a variety of amazing extra rewards. Additional rewards feature a sticker pack, a lithograph showcasing art by Chester Gould that was published in LIFE Magazine, and a trading card set titled “Dick Tracy Case Files,” which will only be available through BackerKit. Furthermore, backers who pledge within the first 48 hours at the “Early Bird Edition” tier will receive a discount along with an exclusive bookmark featuring stunning artwork by David Mack. Fans can now follow the pre-launch page on BackerKit to receive an email notification when the project launches.
