While the internet has surmised of Jake Gyllenhaal’s involvement in Spider-Man: Far From Home for a while and there have been behind the scenes videos of him as Mysterio, the actor recently broke his silence in a hilarious Instagram video. Apparently, Gyllenhaal wasn’t aware that he was not portraying Peter Parker.

While the video was a hilarious tease for fans, it also could be leading to other clues. You have to love the internet, right? People point out the most unique things. There are two comic issues that Jake Gyllenhaal features and fans are now wondering if these are clues as to what the plot to the movie is. The Amazing Spider-Man #311 is titled Mysteries of the Dead and follows Spidey as he runs into stone lions from the New York Public Library as they come to life. As a result, an innocent bystander ends up dying, which of course, leaves Peter Parker in disarray. We then find out that the villain Mysterio made sure that Parker would see this person die, in order to make Parker distraught.
The other issue is The Amazing Spider-Man #66 and is called The Madness of Mysterio. In this, Mysterio breaks out of prison and is ready to get revenge on Spider-Man, as he is the one who put him there in the first place. Considering we haven’t met Mysterio yet, I’m not sure this would pop up in Far From home, but considering the last scene we had in Homecoming in the post-credit scene was the Vulture in prison, perhaps this is a possibility?
Things are being kept tight-lipped in regards to Far From Home, considering we need to see how Avengers 4 fixes what happened to Peter Parker in Infinity War. Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters July 5, 2019.
