It’s news to me, but apparently there is a Scarface remake in the work at Universal. One that Diego Luna was reportedly attached to. With it being two years, though; since there was any news at all, fans have wondered if Luna is still attached to the project. According to Collider, Luna has confirmed that he is not attached to Scarface.
Collider had spoken to Luna during the Sundance Film Festival about his upcoming season of Narcos: Mexico and asked Luna about being attached to Scarface, to which he responded:
“No, no I’m not.”
Al Pacino portrayed the main character Tony Montana in Scarface’s 1983 remake (yes, it’s a remake of a 1932 movie) and has become integrated into our pop culture. It seems that another remake would probably not live up to the Pacino version, but we may get one for the new generation.
In the meantime, Luna will reprise his role as Felix Gallardo in Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico season two, which hits Netflix on February 13th. He will also return as Cassian Andor in Disney+’s upcoming Cassian series.
